Here’s a breakdown of how much oil and gas is generated locally:

  • La. House District 50. Louisiana House District 50 is the sixth largest oil production district in the state and is the 19th largest natural gas production district in Louisiana.

More than 6.687 million barrels of oil are produced yearly at an average price per barrel of $75.


Natural gas tops 80.436 MCF, at an average price of $4.38/MCF.

District 50 receives the 16th largest payment of ad valorem taxes in Louisiana, more than $12.8 million

  • La. District 51. The fourth largest oil production district in the state, it is the 13th largest natural gas production district in Louisiana.

Producing more than 9.8 million barrels of oil and 121.308 MCF in natural gas annually, the district receives $21.521 million in ad valorem taxes, the ninth largest payment in the state.

  • District 53. District 53 is the state’s third largest oil producer and the 15th largest natural gas production district.

The district generates more than $985 million in oil and $500 million in gas, bringing in $27.288 million annually.

  • La. District 54. The state’s fifth largest oil producer and 22nd natural gas producing region, District 54 generates more than $584 million in oil and $193.4 million in gas revenues. It receives the 13th largest payment of ad valorem taxes, $15.674 million.
  • La. District 55. District 55 is the seventh largest oil producer and 26th largest producer of natural gas, generating more than $480 million in oil and $145 million in gas. It receives the 17th largest payment of ad valorem taxes at $12.8 million.
