LSU hospital to retain baby biz

Earl K. Long Medical Center in Baton Rouge will keep delivering babies for now.

EKL planned to end its obstetrics and maternity program in January.

LSU System Vice President Fred Cerise tells The Advocate newspapers that the state has not been able to reach a financial agreement with Woman’s Hospital.

Woman’s had agreed to handle births now done EKL and assume LSU’s obstetrics medical training program.
