Angie and James Lefevre will celebrate the opening of Lefevre’s Art Supply & Gallery Thursday at 230 Enterprise Drive in Houma.

A 10 a.m. celebration will include the ribbon-cutting – not your conventional ribbon, this one will be made of $10 bills, which will be donated to the Houma Regional Arts Council for its annual ArtSense visual arts camp.

The store will formally open at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Intended to provide personal service to the arts community, Lefevre’s caters to professional artists with its large selection of artist-quality products, as well as beginners with its knowledgeable staff and classes for all ages.

The retailer specializes in Rembrandt, Grumbacher, Winsor-Newton, Van Gogh, Holbein, Golden, Cray pas, Micron, Canson, Arches, Mi-teintes, Alligator Clay, Speedball, Artbin, Daylight, Iwata airbrushes and other product lines. The gallery will feature oil reproductions of masters’ paintings on canvas.

Grand-opening specials will include free T-shirts with a $25 purchase, product presentations and hourly prizes.

The Lefevres are a local couple who share a passion for art and are members of the National Art Materials Trade Association. James Lefevre is also a member of the Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild in Houma.
