Own or operate a driving school?

Take note: an informational meeting will be held Nov. 3, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Houma Office of Motor Vehicles.

During the 2011 Regular Session, state lawmakers consolidated oversight of all driver’s education programs under control of the Department of Public Safety. OMV Commissioner Nick Gautreaux is hosting a series of sessions across the state to answer questions about requirements to operate a driving school.

“We want to take this opportunity to meet with the owners, the instructors, the school representatives, and any other interested parties to answer any questions that they might have about what is now required to operate their businesses,” Gautreaux said. “Not much has changed for the schools but we are requiring that instructors and owners document all of the training and classroom instruction that is mandated by law. My staff will be at these meetings to assist owners and operators with any of their school’s needs.”

The Office of Motor Vehicles in Houma is located at 108 Capital Blvd.
