Terrebonne tourism mavens take note: The Houma Area Convention and Visitors Bureau is offering two full scholarships to the Southeast Tourism Society’s Marketing College.

The college, which takes in July 26-31, meets at North Georgia College & State University in Dahlonega, Ga.

The broad-based curriculum is designed to teach the industry’s marketing techniques. Instructors offer real-world knowledge during the week-long study.

Those who successfully complete three years of marketing college are issued a Travel Marketing Professional certification.

Sharon Alford, executive director of the Houma Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, is encouraging other tourism professionals to participate for the good of the local market.

“This is a great chance for some of our industry partners to participate in this wonderful program and become even better at the business of tourism,” she said.

The scholarships cover tuition, accommodations and most meals for the July session.

Alford said the scholarships will be granted based on financial need and professional aptitude.

To apply or for more information on the program, contact Kelly Gustafson at (985) 868-2732 or e-mail info@houmatravel.com.
