Business owners can now register their tax accounts online for fast, convenient service.

The state Department of Revenue launched a new Online Businesses ID Application in mid-January that allows new businesses, existing businesses with new locations, or existing businesses with a new tax type to register tax accounts via the Internet. The form provided is the same paper-based registration form, according to LDR officials.

“The new Online Business ID Application was created to provide a streamlined process for our business owners, as well as to provide a faster turnaround time in receiving their Revenue Account numbers,” Cynthia Bridges, secretary of the LDR, said in a release.

To get a revenue account number with the State of Louisiana, a taxpayer may:

• Register through the Online Business Application on the LDR Web site; or

• Register at one of LDR’s eight offices statewide.

To register online or for more information on the Louisiana Online Business ID Application, visit www.revenue.louisiana.gov, and click the “Online Application” link.
