Synergy Bank names Garofalo vice president

Longtime Houma resident Denise S. Garofalo has been named vice president of Synergy Bank.


In addition, the bank’s board of directors promoted three other local staffers n Julia L. Filce, Melissa Z. Hutchinson and Gerald J. Thibodaux II n within the organization.

Garofalo has 31 years’ experience in the banking industry, the last 29 of which have been spent in the home mortgage lending area.


She is a 2006 graduate of Leadership Terrebonne, and is a member of the Bayou Board of Realtors and the Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce.


Garofalo is married and has two children.

Filce has been promoted to assistant vice president, and will oversee the bank’s Human Resources department.


Filce has approximately 25 years’ experience in banking. The Raceland native holds a Bachelor of Science degree in marketing. She has also taken numerous American Institute of Banking, Dale Carnegie and supervisory courses.

Hutchinson and Thibodaux have been named banking officers.

Hutchinson is a commercial loan administrator and has been in banking for 22 years. She joined Synergy Bank in 1998, and has taken numerous American Institute of Banking courses.

Hutchinson is a member of the Women’s Business Alliance and served on the board of the Salvation Army in Houma. A lifelong resident of the city, she is married and has two sons.

Thibodaux has served as accounting manager at Synergy Bank since December 2005. He holds a Bachelor of Science and master’s degree from Nicholls State University, and is a certified public accountant.

In addition to his duties as accounting manager, Thibodaux is in charge of Internet banking and various operational and technology matters.

He resides in Thibodaux with his wife and two children.
