A group of Terrebonne General Medical Center employees are making a difference in the community.

Since 2007, they’ve logged more than 11,268 volunteer hours at events around the state.

The volunteer group, called Team Terrebonne, was honored last month by the hospital. The commemoration was a celebration of the group giving 3,000 volunteer hours in the past year.

TGMC CEO Phyllis Peoples said last month that the group is something that everyone in the community should be proud of. She applauded her employees for striving daily to make the community a better place.

“(They have) tireless devotion to giving back to the community. That’s one of the greatest assets of the TGMC team,” Peoples said. “Team Terrebonne continues to exceed the expectation as a constant helping hand toward all.”

At the luncheon, several of the hospital’s top volunteers were honored.

Tracy Knight, Bessie Burton, Zane Plunkett, Joseph Plunkett, Victoria Grey, John Sonnier, Byron Price, Mary Fanguy and Donna Price were all recognized as top volunteers in 2015 – each having given hours of service to the cause.

Linda Savoie was named the top volunteer after giving a record-breaking 118.5 hours of service and participating in 33 events.

The department with the highest combined hours of service was also recognized. Winning that honor was surgery, which completed 232.5 hours of service in the year.

In total, Team Terrebonne participated in 51 local events, while accumulating 3,181 hours of volunteer service – 780 more than it did in 2014.
