The Snowmass Institute and the Centennial, Colorado-based Berry Associates awarded Terrebonne General Medical Center’s Women’s Center with a special recognition for an outstanding innovation project in women’s health.

“We are extremely proud of our Women’s Center and to be acknowledged for providing progressive services to women in our community,” said TGMC President and CEO Phyllis Peoples.

The Snowmass Institute commends women’s health facilities that promote outstanding innovation in women’s health programming and service delivery.

The TGMC Women’s Center was honored for providing new ways to create customer value, focus, the number of people who benefited from the project, overall creativity, and the extent of team involvement in the project, said Snowmass Institute President Richard Ireland.

“Over the past several years, women’s health care has evolved with the changing role of women and our Women’s Center was designed with the needs of today’s woman in mind. Convenience, comfort, and the highest quality care were primary areas of concern in the designing and planning the Women’s Center,” said Peoples.

The TGMC Women’s Center opened in May of last year with an 85,000-square-foot facility.

It features larger, private patient rooms, a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a well-baby nursery and lactation services.

TGMC is the only hospital in the region to have a board certified neonatoligist on staff at all times.

In addition, the Women’s Imaging and Breast Center provides the latest diagnostic equipment, including digital mammography, stereo-tactic breast biopsy, ultrasound and bone densitometry.

“The creation of the Women’s Center redesigned the way in which TGMC now provides women’s service,” said the TGMC Women’s Services Director Laura Poole.

The Snowmass Institute is a division of The Ireland Corporation and was established in 1975.
