Whitney Bank is shutting down the branch office the company leases in the Atrium Building at 1340 W. Tunnel Blvd. in Houma at the close of business on Dec. 31.

“It’s not our type of facility,” said Whitney’s South Central Regional President Don Hingle. “It doesn’t meet our normal standards.”

Hingle also said parking is difficult at the building.

He said Whitney is looking at other potential office locations in the Martin Luther King/Tunnel Boulevard corridor.

The Tunnel Boulevard branch closure will not affect the 13 other Whitney offices in the Tri-parish area.

“We’re committed to this market,” Hingle said. “We want to grow big time.”

“We’re not pulling back,” he said. “We’re aggressive in this market.”

Whitney customers will see no changes to existing accounts, documents, checks, debit cards and ATM cards.

Customers can use Whitney Online Banking to access accounts, check balances, confirm deposits, reorder checks, and transfer money between accounts.
