Nicholls State University recently received a $7,500 boost in support of its 2008 Jubilee: A Festival of the Arts and Humanities courtesy of Whitney National Bank.

The contribution funded the event’s printed materials, including commemorative posters, postcards, flyers and the color magazine detailing the festival’s lineup.

“Whitney Bank has been a long-time supporter of the arts and humanities and of Nicholls State University,” said Donald A. Hingle II, city president of Whitney National Bank in Houma. “We firmly believe in investing in the community and providing people with opportunities for world-class education and entertainment.”

Now in its 10th year, the Jubilee highlights cultural, artistic and scholarly events, including plays, musical performances, art exhibitions, literary and historical presentations, scientific discussions, workshops, poetry readings, lectures and culinary demonstrations – all open to the public and most free of charge.

Jubilee events are scheduled until April 25.
