May 28, 2008A number of local faces are among Gov. Bobby Jindal’s most recent appointments for Louisiana Board and Commissions. Among Tri-parish residents tapped to serve are:
• Jimmy Skiles, of Morgan City – Board of Commissioners of Morgan City Harbor and Terminal District
Skiles is vice president of Laborde Marine Inc., and is a graduate of Nicholls State University. He was nominated for the board by the Berwick City Council, as required by statute.
The nine-member board regulates the commerce and traffic of the terminal, being watchful of what best serves the public.
• Lockport Chief of Police Warren Vedros – Louisiana Highway Safety Commission
The commission develops and implements strategies aimed at saving motorists’ lives and preventing injuries on state highways.
• Kimberly Chauvin, Alan Gibson and Kevin M. Voisin – Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board
The board oversees the promotion of the state’s seafood industry.
Chauvin, who resides in Chauvin, is the secretary and treasurer for A.J. Horizon, a fishing company concentrating in shrimp harvesting.
Gibson, a Dulac resident, is vice president of Tidelands Seafood Company and president of Driftwood Farms. The Louisiana Shrimp Association nominated him.
Voisin, a Houma resident, is vice president of marketing for Motivatit Seafood, a job he’s held since 2000. The state Oyster Dealers and Growers Association nominated him.
• David J. Camardelle – State Parks and Recreation Commission
The Grand Isle mayor is also a member of the Grand Isle Independent Levee Board.
• Mitchell R. Theriot – Board of Tax Appeals
Theriot, a Raceland attorney, has been in practice since 1988. He is the former president of the Louisiana City Attorney Association.
• June Williams – Louisiana Executive Board of Aging
Williams, a Houma resident, is a retired registered nurse and has been a member of the Terrebonne Parish Chamber of Commerce since 1996.
