Kayla M. Adams, a native of Morgan City, is the newest student member of the Louisiana Community and Technical College System’s Board of Supervisors.

The Louisiana Technical College student will serve a one-year term.


At the LTC Young Memorial Campus, Adams currently serves as student body president. She is pursuing an Associate of Applied Science degree in accounting technology and office systems technology, and is scheduled to graduate in 2008.


Adams has intentions of continuing school to earn a bachelor’s degree.

In addition to her role as president of the student body, Adams is Louisiana president of Skills USA, and has served as vice president and secretary of the organization.

A recipient of the Louisiana Statesman Award and the H & B Young Foundation Scholarship, Adams has also been awarded scholarships by TOPS, Rotary Club and API SMIG. She is active in many community activities, including Toys for Tots.

Adams is one of two student members to serve on the 17-member board. It is responsible for overseeing the operations of seven community colleges, two technical community colleges and 40 technical college campuses.
