Ongoing production for a film starring Will Smith will shut down part of La. 311 near Ardoyne Plantation in Schriever on weeknights beginning today, Dec. 13 – Dec. 21.

 

According to the State Transportation Department, motorists can expect nightly closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.


 

The filming is for an upcoming American action thriller titled “Emancipation”, directed by Antione Fuqua, and twitter by William N. Collage. Based on a true story, the film depicts the life of a slave named Gordon, who escaped a Louisiana Plantation after being nearly whipped to death. Once outwitting cold-blooded hunters, Peter then makes his way North, where he joins the Union Army. in 1863, Photographs of his beaten back were published worldwide, displaying the heavily scourged from an master’s whippings, and giving the abolitionist movement proof of the cruelty African Americans faced during slavery.

 

Detours around the La.311 closure are as followed:

  • Southbound La. 311 traffic can take U.S 90 east to La. 24. Take Martin Luther King Boulevard to Savanne Road to get back onto La.311.

  • Northbound La. 311 traffic can take Savanne Road east to Martin Luther King Boulevard and on to La. 24.
