Two suspects are in custody of the Thibodaux Police – each charged with drug offenses.

Police Chief Bryan Zeringue said that on April 14, a search warrant was executed on a residence at 221 North 10th St., after a tip that narcotics were possibly on location at the residence.

Once in the home, authorities found Alex Smith Jr., 20, and Ariyaun DeJean, 20, in bed. Zeringue said there was a loaded weapon under the covers with the suspects.

Authorities allegedly knocked the gun away, and secured both Smith and DeJean so that the search could begin.

During investigation, authorities said they located more than 400 grams of suspected high-grade marijuana, hydrocodone pills and cash inside of the residence.

Both Smith and DeJean were placed under arrest and taken into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.

The marijuana had a street value of over $10,000, according to authorities.

Both suspects were released from the Lafourche Parish Detention Center after each posted a $42,000 bond.
