A wanted Raceland fugitive is in the custody of Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office authorities.

On Saturday, deputies responded to a disturbance at a home on St. Ann Street in Raceland. During investigation, they learned that Cordale Richard, 24, of Raceland, was on the scene, and he had several outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Deputies entered the home, which allegedly prompted Richard to escape the back door.

But officers were stationed there, as well, and were able to place Richard in custody.

As officers attempted to put the suspect into the car, he allegedly resisted and fought with deputies.

He was eventually placed into the car, and taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center.

Richard was booked on his prior warrants for contempt of court, two counts of simple battery, purse snatching (with force) and entering/remaining after being forbidden.

For his alleged role in the incident, Richard was also charged with resisting arrest with force or violence and battery of a police officer.

His bond is set at $14,300.
