Both Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes will swear in their new parish presidents and councils this week.
Terrebonne’s inauguration takes place Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center.
Lafourche’s inauguration will be held on Sunday at noon at the Lockport Fire Station.
Terrebonne EOC groundbreaking
Terrebonne Parish will host a groundbreaking for its Emergency Operations Center today. The new center will be built to withstand category 5 hurricanes and will house the Terrebonne Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness.
Lamar Contractors of Luling will be in charge of constructing the facility.
The ceremony starts at 2 p.m. at 101 Government St. in Gray.
TRMC to host childbirth classes
Thibodaux Regional Medical Center will host a four-part childbirth class this month.
The sessions teach expecting mothers about relaxation methods to use during labor and services available before and after birth.
The class costs $100 per couple and takes place every Thursday in January at 6 p.m.
