This Sturday, the Nicholls State University campus is going to be filled with faculty, students, families and friends celebrating the annual “Fete de la Famille” (Family Day).


Brenda Haskin, executive director of auxiliary services and Family Day committee chair, said Family Day is designed to be a relaxing a fun-filled day.

“We enjoy the opportunity to meet parents of students and want them to feel our appreciation for their students attending our university,” she said. “And younger brothers and sisters can learn about Nicholls as well.”


At 8:30 a.m., a 30-minute Stroll for Student Athletes around the campus will be held to raises funds to support student-athlete scholarships. The event includes a catered breakfast.

The festivities kick off at 10:30 a.m. with a live performance by Treater band. Numerous food booths will offer jambalaya, hamburgers, Godfather’s Pizza, nachos, cotton candy, soft drinks and more, Haskin said.

For children, there will be large inflatable bouncers, face painting and sand art. Several departments and organizations will have displays and interactive games for the children, Haskins said.

The festivities will conclude 30 minutes before the Nicholls-Assumption College football game at Guirdy Stadium. Family Day participants may purchase half-price tickets to the football game for $5 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at West Gate 2 and East Gate 1 at the stadium.
