Dedicated Nicholls State University Supporters Henry and Kim Lafont have donated $20,000 to Nicholls Athletics for the Boucvalt Family Athletic Complex Naming Rights campaign.

As a thank you for their generous support, Nicholls Athletics is naming the linebacker coach’s office the Henry and Kimberly Lafont Linebacker Coach’s Office. The official name is pending approval from the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.

“Nicholls has always been important to us, and, more importantly, our area itself,” Henry said. “I have said many times that Nicholls gave me and countless other students in this area a unique opportunity to get a great education at an unbelievable cost. I truly believe that I would not be an attorney today without Nicholls State University. We have always felt that athletics and academics go hand-in-hand for a true university experience. That is why we try to support so many different areas on this campus. We would like to encourage more people, especially alumni, to contribute to their university. It is the best way to keep our university moving forward.”

Henry (BA’ 76), an attorney and former Nicholls instructor, and Kim, CEO of Nu-Lite Electrical Wholesalers, have been avid supporters of Nicholls State University over the years and are never far off from any university fundraising event. They created a scholarship for first-generation students from South Lafourche, were named the top donors during the 2019 Give-N-Day and even celebrated their anniversary in 2018 with the Nicholls Foundation during a trip to Lyon, France. Kim was named an Honorary Alum by the Nicholls Alumni Federation in 2016.

Announced in 2020, the naming campaign for the Boucvalt Family Athletic Complex is raising money to provide for current and future needs within Nicholls Athletics. The goal of the campaign will be to name all areas of the new facility, which opened last year, in an effort to raise funds. This will allow Nicholls Athletics to invest a portion into an endowment and use the other funds for upkeep and maintenance within the department.

“Support from the community is integral, not only to the success of Nicholls Athletics but also to creating a first-class experience for our student-athletes,” said Hillary Charpentier, director of the Colonel Athletic Association. “Seeing support from donors like the Lafonts, who support not only athletics but multiple entities across campus lets you know what a truly special place Nicholls is.”

Each new room or area of the Boucvalt Family Athletic Complex may be named after an individual, family or business as per guidelines set forth by the state of Louisiana, Nicholls State University and the Donor Gifts Agreement. The opportunity will allow donors to pay off their investment over five years, and the naming rights to the space for 15 years.

Room naming opportunities in the Boucvalt Family Athletic Complex are still available. For more information, visit the CAA website at nicholls.edu/caa.
