A 76-year-old Thibodaux woman died today from injuries she received after being struck by a Jeep as she crossed West Main Street on Dec. 3, according to state police.

Kathleen Babin was hit around 6:45 p.m. Dec. 3 as she was attempted to cross Main Street near Martin Luther King Boulevard, Trooper First Class Rodney Hyatt said. Steven Eastwood, 25, of Houma, was driving the vehicle.

Hyatt said Acadian Ambulance transported Babin to Terrebonne General Medical Center. Eastwood, who was alone in the Jeep, was not hurt.

On Wednesday, Hyatt said Troop C received a phone call from the Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office saying that Babin had died Wednesday morning at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge.

Alcohol and drug use are not suspected to be a factor in the crash, Hyatt said. Eastwood consented to a voluntary breath test, the results of which were .000g percent, he said. No charges have been filed.

Hyatt said Trooper Dawn Celestin is continuing to investigate the incident.
