On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, the Thibodaux Police Department celebrated their very own Philip “Mr. Phil” Percle’s second graduation from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Police Academy.

Percle is a 27 year veteran of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, and attended his first Police Academy in 1985. The officer retired in 2012 after years of serving the citizens of Lafourche Parish, but later returned to continue his public service with the Thibodaux Police Department in 2021. Now that Percle has re-completed the Academy, he will once again be able to serve in an enforcement capacity.

During his initial career with the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, Percle served as a Deputy, working on water patrol and mounted horse patrol, as well as holding the responsibility of taking care of the K-9 dogs at the local jail– and towards the end of his career, Percle was head of all maintenance for the entire Sheriff’s Office. Percle’s best friend, K-9 Gunner, was able to attend his ceremony to congratulate him on this achievement!

“Phil absolutely has a heart of gold,” said Lieutenant Clint Dempster with the Thibodaux Police Department. “All he wants is to serve the community in any way he can, like he has in the last 27 years. Phil is like a jack of all trades– he will do anything for you, and is talented at everything. It is an honor for us to have him on the force with us. It is great all the way around for everyone involved.” Congratulations to Phil Percle for this selfless accomplishment!
