Houma-Thibodaux, LA – The Houma-Thibodaux Metropolitan Planning Organization (HTMPO) seeking public assistance on the development of a Comprehensive Transportation Safety Action Plan for Assumption, Lafourche, and Terrebonne Parishes. This initiative is aimed at enhancing regional infrastructure and improving roadway safety with a focus on reducing fatalities and serious injuries on area roads.

As part of this crucial planning process, HTMPO is inviting the public to participate in an online survey. This survey provides a platform for community members to express their transportation safety priorities, contributing valuable insights that will guide the development of the Safety Action Plan.

Survey Participation Encouraged for Safer Streets and Roads

Community involvement is vital in shaping a safety plan that accurately reflects the needs and concerns of all road users, including motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians, and transit riders. The HTMPO urges residents to take a few minutes to complete the online survey and share their perspectives on transportation safety. The survey is available at the following link: https://www.htmpo.org/survey/. The HTMPO also encourages local organizations and individuals to share the survey link via social media channels, helping to reach a broader audience and ensuring diverse input.

Funding and Future Plans

This SS4A Safety Action Plan is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration. The insights gained from public input will play a critical role in identifying safety concerns and shaping strategies to address them, thereby enhancing the overall safety and quality of life in the Houma-Thibodaux region.

The Safety Action Plan will identify and address a wide array of risk factors related to transportation fatalities and injury including the following:
