Terrebonne Parish officials have announced locations where residents may fill sandbags in advance of Tropical Storm Gordon’s arrival. The storm may affect local communities as soon as Tuesday.

Parish workers began delivering sand and self-service bags Monday morning to locations on the list. All deliveries are expected to be completed by 5 p.m., and shall continue through the duration of the emergency.

Parish President Gordon Dove said the local government and its departments are more than ready to meet any challenges this storm poses,

Terrebonne and Lafourche are among south Louisiana parishes under a tropical storm warning from the National Weather Service, which means tropical storm winds can be expected within 24 hours.

Areas outside of the area’s protection system, based on estimates from the National Weather Service, could expect flooding of one to two feet in places. High astronomical tides are also affecting water levels.

At 1860 Grand Caillou Road, the Terrebonne Parish barn next to Shannon Harware, pre-filled bags will be available for elder people and residents with disabilities.

The following locations, according to Dove, will be receiving self-service deliveries Monday and will be fully operational by 5 p.m.
