Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s detectives continue their search for two black males who allegedly ordered food to be delivered to an abandoned apartment Thursday night only to rob the delivery man when he arrived, a department spokesman said.

Capt. Malcolm Wolfe said the TPSO received a call reporting the robbery around 8 p.m. in the parking lot of Tanglewood Apartments.

Deputies learned that a food order had been placed via telephone at China-On-Wheels, Wolfe said. The caller asked that the food be delivered to apartment number 16, which deputies discovered was actually a vacant apartment, he said.

When the China-On-Wheels driver arrived, a man met him in the parking lot and said that he was the customer that called in the food order, Wolfe said. While paying for the food, the man sprayed the driver with a chemical spray, possibly mace, the spokesman said.

A struggle between the delivery driver and the suspect ensued, and Wolfe said a second suspect joined the scuffle.

Wolfe said the two men stole the delivery driver’s moneybag, which contained an undetermined amount of cash.

The two robbers ran out of the apartment complex driveway, he said.

The delivery driver received only minor injuries in the fight, he noted.

Deputies are continuing to search for the two men, whom Wolfe said appeared to be between 18 and 25 years old.

The first suspect is described as having a slim build, light complexion and standing approximately 5 feet, 9 inches to 6 feet tall. He was wearing gray, long-sleeve coveralls, Wolfe said.

The second man had a darker complexion and heavier build, according to witnesses. He was approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall, and was wearing a dark pullover jacket with the hood pulled over his head. He was also wearing blue jeans, the captain said.

Anyone with information concerning this investigation is asked to call the Terrebonne Parish detective bureau at (985) 876-2500.
