Houma Police arrested a local woman Thursday morning after she dropped a clear bag of illegal narcotics out of her vehicle after being stopped for speeding, a department spokesman said.

Lt. Todd Duplantis said officers were monitoring traffic at 2:56 a.m. on East Street near Payne Street when a 1994 Chrysler New Yorker sped by on East Street. Officers reported the Chrysler was exceeding the posted 25 mph speed limit and passed two vehicles in the oncoming lane of traffic, he said.

At the intersection of East and Payne streets, police conducted a traffic stop, the spokesman said. As officers approached the vehicle, the passenger door opened and clear bag containing suspected marijuana was dropped outside of the car, Duplantis said.

Juduie D. Robinson, 31, 134B Senator Circle, was issued a misdemeanor summons for possession of marijuana after officers spotted small particles of the narcotic on her clothes, he said. Robinson told officers that she got scared when she saw the blue lights behind them and was trying to get rid of the marijuana, Duplantis said.

The driver of the vehicle was issued a traffic citation for speeding, he said.

Police confiscated the marijuana, which yielded less than one gram, and forwarded it to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
