The Louisiana State Police Troop C released an update today on their investigation of a fatal hit and run incident on LA Highway 3040 (Tunnel Boulevard) on Wednesday, Sept. 5.

The investigation has turned up the fact the victim, Alex Rivet III, 44, of Houma, rode his bicycle illegally in the middle outside northbound lane of LA 3040, when an unknown vehicle, traveling north, struck him.


After the crash, the vehicle continued north.


A witnessed reported the vehicle may have been a black Cadillac Escalade with a white, male driver.

The State Police had conducted interviews with the over 200 registered owners of black Cadillac Escalades in the Troop C area.

They have not been able to locate the hit and run vehicle.

The State Police will continue its investigation and plans to expand its search outside the Troop C area, to all dark colored SUVs and possibly to dark colored cars.

Because of the massive scale of the investigation, the State Police is asking anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash to contact Troop C at (985) 857-3680.
