A suspected tornado might have damaged eight to 10 homes and businesses along Hamilton Street in Larose Saturday morning, said Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre.

At about 9:15 a.m., residents reported seeing a dark funnel cloud as they took cover in the 300 and 400 blocks of Hamilton Street, just north of the Intercoastal Bridge off of Louisiana Highway 308.

A trailer was knocked off its cement block foundation at 492 Hamilton St., according to sheriff’s office spokesman Larry Weidel. A large mobile home in the rear of the property was flipped and landed on a pickup truck next door.

One person inside the overturned trailer was taken to Lady of the Sea Hospital in Galliano. She suffered bruises, cuts and complained of a pain in her side, Weidel said. No other injuries were reported.

Lafourche deputies, volunteer firemen and neighbors assisted in cleaning up and maintaining security, the spokesman said.

High winds and heavy rains triggered a tornado watch advisory about the time the tornado was reported to local authorities.
