T’bonne levee board gets Jindal’s OK

Three new commissioners were appointed to the Terrebonne levee board by Gov. Bobby Jindal.

The governor reappointed six members, including current board president Anthony Alford.


The new members are Howard Pinkston of Gibson, a lease operator for Island Operating Co. in Lafourche Parish; Darrin Guidry of Houma, president of the Guidry Group, publisher of the Tri-Parish Times in Houma, and Carl Chauvin, Sr. of Chauvin, a logistics manager for the environmental cleaning company Vacco Marine in Houma and a former member of the Atchafalaya Levee Board.

Reappointed to the Terrebonne levee board are Alford, owner of the Houma insurance firm Alford, Staples, Lapeyre and Robichaux; Willis Henry of Houma, retired from the oil and gas company UNOCAL and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran; Gilbert Talbot, Sr. of Montegut, owner of Gip’s Barber Shop; Walton “Buddy” Daisy of Theriot, owner of the oyster companies Buddy’s Seafood and Buddy Daisy & Sons; Jack Moore of Montegut, risk manager for the Terrebonne Parish School Board, and Leward Henry of Chauvin, a former member of the Terrebonne Parish School Board and U.S. Army veteran.

Pinkston, Chauvin, Alford, Talbot, Daisy and Willis Henry were all nominated by members of the Terrebonne Parish state legislative delegation. Guidry and Moore were nominated by Terrebonne Parish President Michel Claudet to represent the areas north and south of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway in Terrebonne, respectively. Leward Henry was nominated by veterans groups in the parish.
