At their regular council meeting on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, CEO Cohen Guidry with the Terrebonne Economic Development Authority presented the Terrebonne Parish Council with a year in review.

“We got a very positive response from our 2022 year in review, so we wanted to bring it back this year,” said Guidry. “I just hit my 18 month mark with TEDA and I’m enjoying every minute of it, and grateful to you all on the council for your support of our projects.”

In 2023:

  • TEDA has seen a little over 20.4 million in capital investment by three private companies, which created 150 new jobs and three expansions.
  • In partnership with Chris Pulaski, TEDA has accomplished a Terrebonne Parish Nature Recreation Conservation Grant Program through GNOF for $100,000. There were 13 different parishes competing for the funding.
  • Guidry personally completed Leadership Terrebonne in 2023, which he says “gave [me] a whole new outlook on this beautiful parish that I live and work in every day.”
  • TEDA saw successful partnerships and high participation with Fletcher Technical Community College, Houma Terrebonne Aviation, Downtown Restoration Districts, and more coming in 2024.
  • Three green energy opportunity projects are in the works to potentially come to Terrebonne Parish following 2023 hearings.
  • The parish saw success with the Louisiana Small Business Restore Loans for local companies in Terrebonne Parish.
  • The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries are in discussions with Project Cynthia out of Belgium to create a solar powered drying process to make biodegradable pot plants from water lilies around Terrebonne Parish.
  • Interest from a Swiss medical company to come to Houma for Alzheimers programs.

“I want to thank all of you for your support and I look forward to working with you next year,” said Guidry. “For those of you moving on in your career, I wish you the best of luck and keep your phones on– I will be contacting you!”
