Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government is asking residents to participate in shaping the future of transportation safety in the region. By taking just a few minutes to complete the online survey community members can contribute to the development of a comprehensive Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Safety Action Plan.

The South Central Planning and Development Commission (SCPDC) is spearheading the initiative with the goal of reducing fatalities and serious injuries for motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians, and transit riders in Terrebonne, Lafourche, and Assumption Parishes. The insights gathered from residents will play a crucial role in understanding and addressing safety concerns, shaping the direction of the study as it progresses.

Funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration, the SS4A Safety Action Plan adheres to the Safe System approach to road safety. This strategy focuses on ensuring safe transportation for all road users and encompasses key principles such as safe speeds, safe vehicles, safe roads, safe road users, and post-crash care.

Residents are encouraged to share their perspectives on transportation safety priorities, identifying potential risks and areas of concern. The primary risk factors highlighted in the survey include speeding, impaired driving, non-use of motorcycle helmets, seat belts, and child restraints, distracted driving, unsafe road infrastructure, and inadequate law enforcement presence.

Participate by taking the severe online now. Together, let’s make our roads safer for everyone.
