The Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation is asking community members to help identify threatened historic sites across the state of Louisiana. Nominations from the public for the 2024 Louisiana’s Most Endangered Places List are due by December 31.

“Since 1999, the Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation has maintained the LOUISIANA’S MOST ENDANGERED PLACES LIST, and advocated to save these threatened sites,” reads the Louisiana Trust for Historic Preservation’s official website. “Please help us identify threatened historic buildings and sites across our state by completing a Most Endangered Places Nomination Form (online or hard copy) below. Sites are selected based on their historic integrity and the likelihood to bring about a positive resolution to their situation or to those of similar sites.”

Criteria for consideration for listing. Nominations are welcome from any and all parishes.

  • Nominated property is historic (at least 50 years old; younger if notably unique) and significantly threatened by direct demolition, demolition by neglect, or other threat.
  • There is reasonable potential for a positive outcome to prevent demolition and for rehabilitation and repurpose.

Nominations are welcome from all parishes. Nomination forms, and more information, can be found here.
