A Thibodaux man was seriously hurt Friday when his vehicle hit a tree on Supercharge Drive in Lafourche Parish, state police said.

Herman Hall Jr., 18, 313 Supercharge Drive, Thibodaux, was driving a 1996 Ford Explorer west on Supercharge Drive when he ran off the road and hit a tree in front of a nearby residence, Louisiana State Police Trooper First Class Rodney Hyatt said. Hall was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.

Acadian Ambulance transported Hall to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. Hyatt said the Thibodaux man appeared to have serious injuries.

State police suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash, Hyatt said. In accordance with state law, blood was drawn from Hall and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for testing, he said.

Charges in the crash are pending, according to Hyatt. Trooper Troy Landry is investigating the crash.
