It was a wet and rainy weekend in the Tri-parish area.

In total, more than seven inches of rain fell in several portions of Lafourche Parish from Friday-Sunday, according to www.weather.com, which caused some small-scale street flooding.

But despite the rain event, Lafourche Parish Public Information Officer Brennan Matherne said the parish was mostly spared because of the long-term span of the rain, which allowed the pumps to keep up with the downfall.

“There was some minor street flooding in a few places, in the central/southern area of the parish,” Matherne said. “Nothing significant, a little bit of rising water, but no reports of homes that have been flooding.”

In Terrebonne and St. Mary Parishes, the stories were the same, as there was small-scale street flooding, but nothing that significantly impacted homes or businesses, according to officials.

The rain-soaked ground should dry up rather quickly, however, as the forecast calls for warm temperatures and dry conditions throughout the duration of the coming week.
