Three Lafourche men were charged Monday with a recent string of thefts in the Montegut area, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office reported.

Brian Foret Jr., 29, of 5283 Rudy St., Chauvin, Dylan Naquin, 25, of 786 Aragon Rd., Montegut, and Kevin Alley, 20, of 311 Parkside Dr., Thibodaux, were charged for a series of thefts on Aragon Road in Montegut.

The crime spree began Friday when the sheriff’s office was notified that a 2001 Ford F-350 dually had been stolen in the 700 block of Aragon Road. The owner of the truck told officers the keys were in the ignition and the engine was running when the vehicle was stolen.

The victim said a friend of his spotted the stolen dually in the Smithridge area and attempted to stop the thief, who was later identified by a witness as Foret, the sheriff’s office said. Foret rammed a nearby vehicle with the stolen car. Foret and his passenger were seen running from the stolen vehicle into the woods.

When detectives questioned Foret Monday, they linked him to a second stolen vehicle and a residence burglary.

Foret allegedly burglarized a relative’s home in Chauvin, took the keys to his pick-up truck and drove away, authorities said. The truck was recovered in the Smithridge area.

Foret was charged with two counts of auto theft, hit-and-run driving, possession of a CDS II (crack cocaine) and simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling. His bond was set at $70,000.

Deputies were called to the 700 block of Aragon Road again Monday after a man reported he was missing $10 and medication from his vehicle, authorities said.

The man told deputies he spotted someone burglarizing a neighbors’ vehicle. The two got into a fight, and the burglar, Naquin, was slightly injured.

Naquin was treated at Terrebonne General Medical Center for injuries to his head and face. After he was released, deputies arrested him on two counts of simple burglary and transported him to the Terrebonne Parish Jail.

In a separate incident Monday, deputies were called to a supermarket in the 1400 block of La. Highway 665 to investigate a car burglary.

Witnesses told deputies a man in the parking lot – Alley – was asking customers for money. While the officer was en route, a second call reported Alley was burglarizing a car in the lot. The owner walked out of the store and saw Alley in her car. He reportedly stole a pair of sunglasses.

Alley was arrested for simple burglary and transported to the Terrebonne Parish Jail.
