September 13, 2022On October 15, 2022, the Terrebonne Garden Club, in collaboration with the Terrebonne 200 Bicentennial Celebration, will dedicate and bury a time capsule in the Courthouse Square. We would like items that presently reflect our parish.
Some examples of the types of items we would like to include are:
• Newspaper articles
• Scroll or handwritten notes
• Events
• Money
• Menus
• Cookbooks
• Essays written by local students on what Terrebonne Parish means to them or a typical day in their lives
• Memorabilia from movies and reality shows (such as Cajun Justice and Swamp People) filmed in Terrebonne Parish
• Roof shingle with newspaper articles from Ida, Gustav, and other hurricanes
• Items from Houma Indians (Houma United Nations School), IDJC (Pointe Aux Chenes French immersion school), Finding our Roots
• Tickets, pictures, newspaper articles, etc. from state championship games
If you or your club or organization would like to place a representation item in the time capsule, bring it to the library (large meeting room to the left as you enter) between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. on September 14 or September 21, 2022.
Keep the following in mind:
• The capsule is a 24″ cube (2 ft. by 2 ft. by 2 ft.).
• The item should be vacuumed packed or sealed in a zip lock bag.
• If the item is a pamphlet/paper, please laminate it.
