We have big changes in the weather coming up, so let’s break it down by day so you know what to expect!

From the National Weather Service:

Starting off this morning, expect some light drizzle around the area as well as some patchy fog along coastal areas. It will be warm again today and quiet, mild but humid tonight to ring in the new year.

Tomorrow will be the last warm day before the big cool down arrives. Expect partly cloudy skies with breezy south winds. Spotty showers and a few strong/locally severe storms may develop tomorrow afternoon, extending into the overnight hours. Stay weather aware!

The cold front plows through early Sunday morning, as temperatures plummet and northwest winds pick up. Gale conditions likely across some marine areas with cold, windy conditions areawide through Sunday evening. Have that jacket handy!

It will be turning COLD Sunday night/Monday morning! Winds remain a bit breezy making it feel even colder. Expect freezing temperatures for the northern half of the area (mid 30’s Southshore/coastal SE LA) with wind chills in the 20’s.

How long will the cold last? Just like typical Louisiana weather, not too long, as we will moderate going into mid-week with another cold front and a light rain chance possible at some point late-week.
