High winds and thunderstorms moved across the Tri-parishes early Wednesday, a precursor to expected cooler weather. On Arcement Street in Montegut, wind caused this tree to snap. As the storm moved across south Louisiana, a tornado cropped up in St. Helena Parish, destroying a trailer and killing a man, according to Maj. Michael Martin of the St. Helena Parish Sheriff’s Office. No major damage was reported in Terrebonne or Lafourche parishes and by mid-day the sun reappeared as the temperatures began to drop. Forecasters predict Thursday’s temperatures will reach a high of 64 degrees, and dip to 41 for a low. On Friday and Saturday, the high will be in the low 70s, while the low will hover around the upper 40s. Sunday’s temperatures will fall slightly, according to the five-day outlook, with temperatures reaching a high of 68 and a low of 45. Staff photo by Jed Levron.
