Abel Joseph Rogers, 87, a native of Weeks Island, La., and resident of Franklin, La., died at 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011.


Mr. Rogers was a loving and devoted husband and uncle. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Campaign and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign.


He is survived by his sisters, Bernice DuBois, Enola Mars and Anna Trosclair; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Rogers; parents, Arthur and Anna Rogers; brothers, Nolan and Minos Rogers; and sister, Miriam Rogers.

Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at and 8 to 10:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at Ibert’s Mortuary. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Assumption with burial at Perpetual Park Cemetery. (Ibert’s)
