Acklin “T-Neg” Peter Blanchard, 81, a native and resident of Bourg, La., died Monday, January 28, 2008.


He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beulah Pinell Blanchard; daughters, Darlene Savoy and husband Rodney, Wanda Bourg and husband Blaine, Jennifer Domangue and husband Dane, Trudy Hebert and husband Jody; son, Jordan “Joe” Blanchard; sisters, Loretta Pellegrin and Cathy Ordoyne; brothers, Morris, Joseph “Junior” and Charles Blanchard; 12 grandchildren, Brent, Todd and Judson Savoy, Jansen Bourg and Meredith Bourg Chauvin, Britt and Gina Domangue, Kip, Tad and Jay Hebert, Katie Blanchard Broussard and Steven Blanchard; and 11 great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Gertrude Detiveaux Blanchard, and sister, Rita Mae Battagalia and husband Tony; and brother-in-law David Pellegrin.

Acklin was the oldest of seven children. Upon graduating from Terrebonne High School, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and is a World War II Veteran. He was a member of American Legion Post 272 and a member of the VFW Boquet-Breaux 7755, holding several offices for both. He was an active member of the Montegut Carnival Club and Krewe de Bonne Terre where he reigned as King in 1984. As a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montegut, he served as lector and usher. T-Neg retired from Texaco after 36 years of service. He was a fun-filled person that loved his family, friends, country, wood-working, fishing, cooking, and gardening. His compassion, generosity, and love for his family, friends, and others in need were an integral part of his warm and wonderful personality. He will be sadly missed by his family who loved him deeply.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montegut, La.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Samart Funeral Home of Houma is in charge of the arrangements.
