Alexander “Foots” “Lightning” Simmons, 70, a native of Napoleonville, La., and a resident of New Orleans, La., died Tuesday, June 9.


He is survived by his wife, Dolores Alexander of New Orleans; daughters, Reaver and Rosalind Simmons of New Orleans; sons, Alexander Jr. and wife Tora, Bryant and wife Shelita, and Johnny Simmons all of New Orleans; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Glenn Simmons.

He was a U.S. veteran of the Korean War.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at Williams and Southall Funeral Home in Napoleonville with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at Woodlawn Methodist Church Cemetery.

Williams and Southall Funeral Home in Napoleonville is in charge of the arrangements.
