Aline Marie Toups Bruce, 89, a native and resident of Cut Off, La., died Monday, February 2, at 7:24 p.m.


She is survived by her daughter, Loretta Bruce Doucet; sister, Victoria Toups Breaux; grandchildren, Bruce J. Collins and Crystal Ann Collins; step-grandchildren, Harris “Kip” Doucet, Mae Ella Doucet Falgout and Mary “Liz” Doucet Adams; great-grandchildren, Christopher “Scooby” Collins, Whitney Collins, Casey Dartez and Kevin Pellegrin Jr.; nine step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-great-grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Alidore Bruce; parents, Newman J. and Athenese Bourg Toups; brothers, George, Ewood and Newman “U.B.” Toups Jr.; and sister, Agnes “Lou Lou” Toups Sonnier.

She was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off and a member of the Catholic Daughters and Ladies Altar Society. She was also a member of the Grand Isle Senior Citizens, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Krewe of Nereids. Prior to her retirement, she was the owner of Bruce Furniture in Cut Off and Bruce Apartments in Grand Isle. Here she enjoyed meeting people and became a friend to everyone she met through her businesses. She also loved visiting with family and friends and had a passion for Mardi Gras. She loved a good time shared with Krewe members, family and friends.

She was buried at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Cut Off.

Falgout Funeral Home of Galliano, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
