Allen Anthony “Shine” Deslatte, 80, a native and resident of Morgan City, La., died at his residence Sunday Sept. 6.

He is survived by his loving wife Marina “Rena” Deslatte; three sons, Patrick Dehart and wife Linda, Rickey Dehart and wife Rebecca, and Warren Dehart and wife Challie, all of Morgan City; two daughters, Debbie Navarro and husband Ricky, and Glenda Rice and husband David, all of Morgan City; one brother, Harry Deslatte and wife Rena of Morgan City; one sister, Ruby Aucoin and husband August; one sister-in-law, Carmen Deslatte of Morgan City; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Telesphore and Ella Deslatte; two brothers, Joe and Roland Deslatte; and two grandchildren, Jason Dehart and Paul Rice.

“Shine” enjoyed the simple things of life, including hunting, fishing and cooking. The thing that he loved the most was the joy that his family brought to him.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. at the church with burial at Morgan City Cemetery.

Twin City Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
