Allen John Detiveaux Sr., 73, a native of Bourg, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Thursday, June 19, 2014.
Mr. Detiveaux was a devoted family man who never met a stranger. He was a parishioner of Maria Immacolata Catholic Church, an active member and past president of the Houma Civitan Club and a member of Knights of Columbus Posts 6170 and 13819.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Detiveaux; son, Allen Jr. (Evette) Detiveaux; daughters, Cynthia (Danny) Bergeron and Monica (Garrett) Monti; brothers, Reynold (Jeanette) and Donald (Faye) Detiveaux; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Violet Detiveaux; brothers, Irving, A.J., Alton, Rufus, Leslie and Charles Detiveaux and Dale Hughes; sister, Georgia Martin; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at Chauvin Funeral Home and 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, June 23, at Maria Immacolata Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2. (Chauvin)
