Allen Joseph Guidry Sr., 64, a native of New Orleans, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died Tuesday, Oct. 20.
He is survived by his wife Elaine Prosperie Guidry; three sons, Allen “Dudie” Guidry Jr. and wife Sharon of Houma, Brent Guidry and wife Margaret of Fairhope, Ala., and Cory Guidry and wife Nicole of Houma; one brother, Eulin Guidry of Bourg, La.; one sister, Laura Mae “Tokay” Guidry Carrere of Dulac, La.; three grandchildren, Brandon, Christina and Emily Guidry; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Miley Guidry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Odon Guidry and Ophelia Liner Guidry; four brothers, Olden “Doc” Guidry, Peter “Bull” Guidry, Golden “Coon” Guidry and Odon “Min” Guidry; and three sisters, Florence “NuKay” Guidry LeBoeuf, Eula Mae Guidry Brignac and Marie Guidry Matherne.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Houma, East Houma Lions Club and the Fraternal Order of Police. He was a sergeant in Corrections with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma, and 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at First Baptist Church in Houma. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with burial at Holy Rosary Cemetery in Houma.
