Allie Marie Duplantis, 100, a native and resident of Chauvin, La., died Friday, Feb. 14, 2014.


Mrs. Duplantis was a founding and charter member of the first board of the Chauvin Council on Aging. She was one of the quilting ladies for the Lagniappe Festival and member of the St. Joseph’s Ladies Altar Society and Catholic Daughters. She loved traveling and visiting her camp and was a great mother and beloved mother-in-law.

She is survived by her sons, Carol and James (Roberta) Duplantis; daughter, Janice (Odis Sr.) LeCompte; brother, Eldon Chauvin; sisters, Rita LeBoeuf and Eta Falgoust; 20 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilsey Duplantis; son, Larry Duplantis; brothers, Nolan, Anthony, Louis Jr. and Raymond Chauvin; sisters, Viley Domangue and Yvonne Authement; and one grandchild.


Visitation will be 9:30 to 11: 30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at St. Joseph Church in Chauvin with mass to follow. Entombment will be at St. Joseph Mausoleum. (Falgout)
