Alphonse John Porche, 95, a native of Bayou Blue, La., and resident of Houma, La., died at 11:25 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011.


Mr. Porche retired from Texaco Oil Company after 33 years as a motorman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church.


He is survived by his daughters, Robbin (John) Hamner, Ginger (Richard) Schonberg; sisters, Laurentine Toups and Anna Richard; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Porche; parents, Gilbert and Marie Porche; brothers, Louis and Ernest Porche; sisters, May and Rita Bergeron, Maude Matherne and Levie LeBoeuf.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday, July 25, at St. Louis Catholic Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Interment will be at the church cemetery. (Chauvin)
