Anita Thibodeaux Picou, 94, a native and resident of Houma, La., died Friday, Feb. 29, at 5:49 p.m.


She is survived by her daughters, Claudette Picou Dryden and husband, David, Nell Picou Robert and husband, Rodney C., Chris Picou Hebert and husband, Henry J.; son, Robert Wilson Picou Sr. and wife, Brenda Giardina; grandchildren, Anita Dryden Thibodaux, Tina Dryden Landry, Patricia Robert Moore, Stephen Robert, Natalie Robert Tassin, Ryan Hebert, Kade Hebert, Robert “Bobby” Picou Jr., Billy Picou; step-grandchild, Rodney “Rod” Robert; great-grandchildren, Brian Dyrden Jr., Brock Landry, Jenna Landry, Katie Thibodaux, Kensey Thibodaux, Peyton Picou, Allie Picou, Lindsey Collins, Seth Moore and Cooper Robert; and sister, Ruth Thibodeaux Pelletier of Nashua, N.H.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilson R. Picou; daughter, Anne Carol Picou; her parents, Freddie C. Thibodeaux and Anniest LeBlanc Thibodeaux; sister, Jeanne T. Duplantis; brothers, Earl C. Thibodeaux and Fred J. Thibodeaux; and grandsons, Brian Dryden and Kendall Dryden.


She was a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. She was a member and former Vice-Regent of the Catholic Daughters of America and a member of the Legion of Mary.

She worked as a saleswoman at Dupont’s, Richard’s Variety Store, Lewald’s, The Leader Store and Godchaux’s Department Store.

She was buried at St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 1.

Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
