Arthur “Red” Bernard, 82, a native and resident of Thibodaux, La., died at 12:55 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010.


He is survived by his wife, Earleen P. Bernard; sons, Harry (Cindy) and Arthur “Putt” (Nikki) Bernard, and Joseph Brown; daughters, Madelyn (Louis) Petersen, LaWanda (David) Leger, Jeannie Doiron, Jewell Albrest and Ellen (Mke) Pecoul; brothers, Wilburn and Robert Bernard; grandchildren, Benjamin, Lee, Brad, Zoe, Jillian and Beau Bernard, Justin and Breanna Brown, Matthew and Marcus Petersen, Marti Burnham, Eric and Sara Leger, Amy Moore, Lucas Doiron, Jesse and Jorden Albrest, and Michael, Andrew and Nicolette Pecoul; and great-grandchildren, Jordan Evans, Sydnee Petersen, and Clinton II and Jane Leger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace Bernard and Estelle Roland; brothers, John “Bolly” and Wallace Bernard Jr.; and sister, Estelle Bright.


Visitation will be held from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at Thibodaux Funeral Home. A Mass will follow at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Bernard will be buried at St. Joseph Cemetery in Thibodaux.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Shriner’s Children’s Hospital are appreciated.
