Audrey “Maw, Aunt Mae” Punch Chabert, 73, a native and resident of Larose, La., died Friday, July 23, 2010.

Mrs. Chabert enjoyed family gatherings, going to casinos, picking and growing butterbeans and was proud to be the daughter of a sharecropper. She was a caregiver to the elderly for many years and a Girl Scout leader for all of her girls. She loved everyone she met and she never met a stranger.


She is survived by her husband, Leroy “T-Black” Chabert; children, Karen Chabert, Katie (Johnny Jr.) Callais, Karla (Todd) Cheramie, Kris Chabert and Kammy (Corey) Giambrone; brother, Raymond Punch; sisters, Rowena Dominique, Wildred Ougel and Mabel Leblanc; six grandchildren, Jared Cheramie, Amber Pierce, Emelie Cheramie, Hannah Callais, Alyssa Giambrone and Claire Chabert; and three great-grandchildren, Karlyn Pierce, Jasmine and Jayden Cheramie.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Sylvere and Ariana Parr Punch; four brothers, Orice, Antoine, Alvin and Nolise Punch; and four sisters, Elenor Richadelle, Leona Delaune, Eva Guidry and Lelia Allemand.

The family would like to thank the staff and personnel of the CCU and all of the staff at Terrebonne General Medical Center for the exceptional care they gave Mrs. Chabert.

She is buried at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery.
