T’bonne’s Bayou Grace helping locals succeed
February 9, 2010Bertha “Monkee” Walters, 61, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010.
Mrs. Walters was retired and a member of Mount Herb Baptist Church.
She is survived by daughters, Nanette Walters and Trina (Brian) Morris of Houma; brothers, Lionel, Stafford and Richard Walters of Houma, and Cary (Rosa) Walters of Augusta, Ga.; sisters, Evelyn Walters, Mary Ann Piondexter, Gloria (Keith) Landry, Gail (Alvin) Moore and Debra (Kevin) Stovall, all of Houma; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charley and Doretha Tillman Walters; son, Elijah Walters; brothers, Charley Jr., Leonard, Willie Lee, Daniel and Edward Walters; sisters, Mercedes Smith and Stella Mae Walters; and grandparents, Joseph “Joe” Tillman and Bertha Robertson.
She is buried at Cresent Farm Cemetery.
Gertrude Geddes Willis-Terrebonne Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
